Material; Irish oak

Inspired by the form and layout of the World War One trenches, the tenaille form lends itself to the design of seating, to create a social space for students of Kilkenny College. Inscribed in the backrest of the seats are the names of those students and staff of Kilkenny College who died during World War One. Made from Irish Oak the seating has a material presence as Oak is layered and carved to shape. This stacking technique allows a bold form to echo the trenches, while also creating a sense of solidity and permanence.
